Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) has commissioned a study on the trading of emissions-related products in Hong Kong. The study is the first to be conducted by a leading stock exchange in Asia to assess the full range of carbon and environmental markets and possible trading options.

Australian law firm Mallesons Stephen Jaques has been appointed lead consultant, and will work with sub-consultants Climate Focus and International Environmental Trading Group to analyse the potential for trading emissions-related products. Climate change and clean energy partner Christopher Tung, one of the few climate change law and carbon finance specialists based in Asia, will lead the Mallesons team on the project.
