Medical device providers aim at global markets

Mindray Medical International has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Datascope Corp’s patient monitoring business for US$202 million. This transaction will create upon completion the third-largest player in the global patient monitoring device industry, furthering the company’s goal of becoming a leading provider of high-quality medical devices to markets worldwide. This transaction represents a unique combination of strengths that will help transform Mindray from a largely China-based company into a global leader. O’Melveny & Myers and Dechert were the sole legal advisors on this deal.
