A software developer intends to release a software program that may be used by computer users to create new sound recordings based upon pre-existing copyrighted music works and sound recordings. A feature of this software program is to "transform" the digital sound recordings (e.g. in the format of MP3 files) to create a karaoke effect during playback by separating the background music (or music accompaniment) played by musical instruments from the vocal music sung by singers. This software also allows users to record new sound recordings of background music and their own vocals.
