In an industry first, international law firm Bird & Bird has been granted a licence enabling the firm to launch a trademark agency. The new intellectual property (IP) agency will operate under the name Bird & Bird IP (Beijing) Co. Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bird & Bird, Hong Kong.
The new agency will be able to file trademark applications directly with the Chinese authorities and to deal directly with all enforcement government agencies, as well as to handle administrative enforcement actions on behalf of companies seeking to protect their IP rights.
