The legal industry gets behind China and the Games' legal challenges

There is further evidence that the Olympic Games will be fought in the boardroom as well as on the sporting field. Since September 2006 more than 400 lawyers in Beijing have become Olympics volunteers, focusing on the intellectual property issues related to the events.

However the legal challenges are not just isolated to IP issues. Recently a legal team of 25 professional practitioners was formed with the aim of providing legal counsel for urgent legal matters during the Games. Their roles include sponsorship contracts as well as legal counsel for the Beijing Olympic Committee (BOCOG).
