Securities companies in the PRC can now apply to carry out margin financing and stock lending. While other countries are suspending such practices due to economic uncertainties, the Chinese central government appears to be taking the opposite track.
The Tentative Provisions for the Examination and Approval of the Business Scope of Securities Companies became effective on December 1, and allow securities companies to request an expansion of their business.
