China has published final guidelines on the definition of the relevant market for anti-competitive behaviour. The rules should provide more certainty to companies carrying out mergers and acquisitions, or establishing joint ventures and co-operative agreements which may affect the Chinese market.
The Guidelines on the Definition of Relevant Market (关于相关市场界定的指南) were issued by the Anti-monopoly Commission of the State Council on July 7 2009. A full translation will be available in the July/August issue of CLP, along with further analysis and discussion of their impact.
