Japanese power companies push into China

Japan's Electric Power Development Co (J-Power) and Chugoku Electric Power Co have purchased a combined 10% stake in Gemeng International Energy Co, a Chinese power company based in Shanxi province.
The Japanese power companies agreed to buy stakes of 7% and 3% of Gemeng for around ¥10 billion (US$105.6 million) and ¥4 billion, respectively.
