    Private equity firm The Carlyle Group has agreed to a share swap transaction between telecommunications operator Taiwan Mobile (TWM) and cable TV operator kbro, with the latter majority-held by Carlyle Asia Partners II LP (CAP).

    The US$1.8 billion deal creates the largest pay TV operator in Taiwan, with over 1.5 million subscribers. CAP will exchange its holdings in kbro for a 15.5% stake in TWM and become the second largest shareholder in TWM.
