Thomas Albrecht has relocated from the firm's Chicago base to its Hong Kong office to take up his appointment as the new Asia-Pacific managing partner. A finance specialist and a member of Sidley's management and executive committees, Albrecht has led the growth and expansion of numerous non-US Sidley offices over the past 15 years.
His move signals the firm's intentions to grow its platform in the region. Sidley's current Greater China Managing Partner William Fifield will continue in his role until he returns to the US at the end of 2010.
