Robert Ashworth has replaced Simon Marchant as Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's regional managing partner in Asia. Marchant will return to the firm's corporate practice in London.

Ashworth has been based in Hong Kong since 1994 and has over 16 years of experience in doing China-related transactions. He has been head of the firm's corporate practice since 2000.
