US firm Reed Smith has a new Shanghai office. It will be managed by corporate partner Jay Yan, who was the former head of Dorsey & Whitney's Shanghai office. Yan is a New York-licensed lawyer who has been practising in Shanghai for 15 years.

Yan will be joined counsel Zack Dong, a Shanghai native who was previously based in Reed Smith's Beijing office. Dong's clientele includes retail, wholesale, manufacturing and service-based companies looking to making foreign direct investments into China. He has advised them on restructuring, acquisition, recapitalizations, employment and real estate matters.
