China passes new biosecurity law amid COVID-19 pandemic

China has passed the PRC Biosecurity Law (中华人民共和国生物安全法), which frames biosecurity as a key component of national security. On Oct. 17, the 13th National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) adopted seven bills, including the biosecurity law.
