Shanghai revises rules allowing for public interest litigation for consumer rights.

Effective: August 1, 2022

Main contents:           Where an act infringes upon the lawful rights and interests of numerous consumers, the Municipal Consumer Protection Commission may institute a public interest lawsuit in a People's Court in accordance with the law. Any damages won shall be used for the protection of the rights and interests of consumers.
