China Relaxes Cross-Border Data Transfer Restrictions

China's cross-border data flow rules have changed as a result of new security review exemptions established for an assortment of data exiting the country, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

TheCyberspace Administration of China, Provisions for Promoting and Regulating the Cross-Border Flow of Data (国家互联网信息办公室促进和规范数据跨境流动规定), promulgated and effective on March 22, specify exemptions for security assessments that include cross-border shopping, shipping, payments, visa processing, opening bank accounts, booking flights, booking hotels,
