US to Require AI Chip “Gatekeepers” to Block Chinese Access
The U.S. government plans to designate companies such as Google and Microsoft as “gatekeepers worldwide” for AI chips in an attempt to prevent Chinese access to these chips, Reuters reports.
Under the scheme, gatekeeper companies are obliged to report key information to the U.S. government and prevent Chinese companies accessing AI chips, among other strict requirements.
