China Publicizes Proposals to Regulate Ethical Aspects of AI



Chinese governmental departments have jointly released a proposal to implement the ethical oversight of artificial intelligence (AI) use for public comments.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Other Departments, Measures for Artificial Intelligence Technology Ethics Management Services (Trial Implementation) (Draft for Comments) (工业和信息化部等部门人工智能科技伦理管理服务办法 (试行) (公开征求意见稿)) aims to respond to the risk of AI systems threatening the health, dignity, safety of humans or social stability, thus ensuring that AI is “developed and used in a way that is fair, transparent, and responsible,” the Civil Society Alliances for Digital Empowerment (CADE) reports.
