European Union to Tighten Local Manufacturing Requirements
The European Union’s executive branch has released proposals aimed at decarbonization and reducing reliance on Chinese manufacturing in sensitive sectors.
Under the European Commission’s proposals, named the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA), the bloc will impose low-carbon and local manufacturing “requirements for public procurement of, or subsidies for, making aluminum, cement and steel, and technologies including wind turbines, electrolysers or electric vehicles.”
